O Cão de Gado Transmontano (CGT) is a breed that has accompanied man since the days when there was the transhumance, resisting the needs, trends and evolution of people's lives.
Is recognized as the 9th Portuguese Breed, by the Portuguese Kennel Club (CPC). Has your Who recognized from 2012. Not yet have recognition by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).

Has as its purposes:
- Promote the sharing of experience between members in the creation of CGT;
- Promote the dissemination of good practices for the optimization of the CGT;
- Establish partnerships with organizations, and other, national and international;
- Boost research credibilize international recognition of the breed of the CGT;
- Organizing formal and informal training in the form of courses, seminars, gatherings, meetings and cultural activities with relevance to the statement and disclosure of the breed of the CGT;
- Edit and disseminate technical and scientific information of interest to Club members;
- Represent the interests of Associates, friends and partners of the Club;
- Promote the breed in Portugal and the rest of the world;
This Club is a non-profit association that aims to be an asset for its members and for the owners of copies of CGT.
